Richard John Chaves (born 9 October 1951 in Jacksonville, Florida) is an actor who played an Earth Sky Spirit in VOY: "Tattoo".

Chaves' is a Vietnam veteran and served in the US Marine Corps. He is the co-author of Tracers, a stage play about the Vietnam war, and provided film footage for the making of the documentary Dear America: Letters Home from Vietnam (1987), where he also lent his voice.

Among his television resume are series such as St. Elsewhere (1983, with Ellen Bry, Karen Landry, and Alan Oppenheimer), Miami Vice (1987, with Zach Grenier and Brad Dourif), L.A. Law (1990, with Corbin Bernsen, Larry Drake, James Avery, Lawrence Dobkin, Lance LeGault, and Diana Muldaur), MacGyver (1990, with Gregory Sierra), Babylon 5 (1994, with Andreas Katsulas and stunts by Gary J. Wayton), and a regular role as Lt. Col. Paul Ironhorse in War of the Worlds (1988-1989, with guest stars Lori Hallier and Ric Sarabia).

His resume also includes films such as Fire on the Mountain (1981, with Gary Graham and Harvey Vernon), Predator (1987, with Kevin Peter Hall, Gary Baxley, and Tony Brubaker), L.A. Takedown (1989, with Victor Rivers, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, and stunts by Rick Avery), Night Eyes II (1992, with Tim Russ and stunts by B.J. Davis, Jimmy Ortega, and Rick Avery), Baja Run (1996), and Lone Greasers (1998).

Chaves was interviewed (using archive footage) in several features on the Predator special edition DVD (2001) and in the US version of the sci-fi magazine "Starlog" (November 1989, Issue 148, titled "Casualty of War").

He decided to close his official fansite and withdraw from the public eye in 1999 after experiencing problems with a stalker; however, he has recently resumed making appearances at fan conventions, including the Chicagoland Entertainment Collectors Expo in October 2007 and two Gallifrey One conventions in February 2007 and 2008. He made his most recent appearance in movies in the soon-to-be-released 2008 film "Lost Warrior: Left Behind"; on television in 2001 in a brief role on "Days of our Lives"; and on stage in 2001 in "Pvt. Wars".
