Richard Barnett is a visual effects artist who worked on both Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Enterprise. More recently, Barnett appeared as a Starfleet extra on the new matte painting in the remastered Original Series episode "The Menagerie, Part I".

Admiral Richard Bennett, whose name was seen on a Dominion War casualty list in DS9: "In the Pale Moonlight", is an in-joke reference to Barnett.
