Relay station 47, DS9 lcars

Library computer graphic of Relay Station 47

Relay Station 47 was a Federation communication relay station that was in service with Starfleet in the 24th century. This station, near the Federation-Klingon border, was in Sector Ipai. It had a standard crew complement of 2 Starfleet officers and was equipped with one shuttlecraft, the Verne.

Relay Station 47 was also in close proximity to Starbase 212 and Relay Station 194. (TNG: "Aquiel")

A graphic of Relay Station 47 was stored in USS Defiant's library computer. (DS9: "Favor the Bold", "Sacrifice of Angels", "What You Leave Behind")

According to the Star Trek: Star Charts (page 65), Starbase 212, and Relay Stations 47 and 194 were all located in the Beta Quadrant.

Technical details

A typical relay station is exclusively designed to transmit and receive several thousand subspace messages on Federation and Starfleet communication channels. As such, its exterior consists of a small crew module, a solar panel, and a large antenna farm. The magnitude of subspace communications converging toward the station can interfere with standard bioscans.

Crew roster

As of 2368, Lieutenant Keith Rocha and junior officer Lieutenant junior grade Aquiel Uhnari were assigned to the station. Lt. jg Uhnari also brought her pet dog Maura on board.

Notable events

On stardate 46455, Lt. Rocha reported for duty at Relay Station 47. As soon as Rocha transferred to the station, Uhnari and Rocha experienced a great deal of personality conflict. Lt. Uhnari found him "rude, arrogant, and condescending" toward her. On stardate 46460, Lt. Rocha wrote in his personal log that he planned to request a formal hearing against Lt. Uhnari, citing her for belligerence and insubordination.

In addition, Klingon Commander Morag would routinely harass the station - even locking his ship's weapons on the relay on at least one occasion.

On stardate 46461.3, the USS Enterprise-D investigated the mysterious disappearance of its crew. When Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge boarded the station, the only lifeform he found was Lt. Uhnari's dog. Evidence of foul play was also found.

Log

The computer voice of the station was provided by Majel Barrett.
