The Explored Galaxy

The location of Regulus on "The Explored Galaxy" star chart

Regulus (Alpha Leonis) was the primary of the Alpha Leonis system, in the Beta Quadrant. This star was located three hundred light years from the Bajoran system. (DS9: "Fascination"; DIS: "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad")

In 2154, a Vulcan High Command attack fleet massed in this star's system in preparation for an abortive preemptive strike against the Andorians. Regulus was the closest accessible star known to be outside the maximum range of Andorian Imperial Guard listening posts. (ENT: "Kir'Shara")

In 2256, this star's location was labeled on the star chart "Alpha/Beta Quadrant Overview" in the ready room aboard the USS Discovery. (DIS: "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad")

In 2293, the location of Regulus in the Milky Way Galaxy was labeled in a star chart that was in Captain James T. Kirk's quarters aboard the USS Enterprise-A. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, okudagram)

According to Star Trek: Star Charts (pp. 56,61,62, "United Federation of Planets I") and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), Regulus (Alpha Leonis) was a mulit-star with a B-class star, M-class star, and K-class star.
The Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 2, p. 212) described Regulus as "a multiple star, the brightest of which is a blue-white main sequence star, located some 79 light years from Earth."
