Raymond Chandler was a 20th century American author of crime novels.

Odo had read his novels. (DS9: "Field of Fire")

Raymond Chandler (1888-1959) wrote stories which featured a private investigator named Philip Marlow. (Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 1, p. 132)) Jean-Luc Picard actor Patrick Stewart described himself as "the world's biggest Raymond Chandler" fan, something which surprised Star Trek: The Next Generation producer Maurice Hurley. Together, the two created the character of Dixon Hill, whom Stewart would have liked to have been a little more like Philip Marlow. (TNG Season 4 DVD, bonus disc - "Inside the Star Trek Archives")
