Rakhar, located in the Rakhar sector, was an inhabited planet in the Gamma Quadrant and the homeworld of the Rakhari species. Nehelik Province was an area in the southern hemisphere of the planet.

Although Croden tells Odo in "Vortex" that Changelings used to live on Rakhar centuries ago until they were persecuted and driven off the planet, his story turned out to be a lie to get Odo's attention.

In the 2360s, a Rakhari named Croden spoke out against the repressive policies of the government. For doing so, Croden's entire family was put to death, although he was able to save and hide his daughter Yareth.

The planet was first visited by the United Federation of Planets by Benjamin Sisko and Jadzia Dax aboard the USS Rio Grande in 2369, when they had a brief conversation with Exarch Hadran about Croden's extradition. (DS9: "Vortex")

According to the Star Trek: Star Charts, page 74, Rakhar orbited the primary Rakhar. This star was a Class K star. It had a magnitude of +9.
