Rader was a Starfleet cadet who entered Starfleet Academy in the 2250s.
When Vulcan was attacked by the Narada in 2258, Rader was assigned to the USS Hood to assist in the rescue attempts. (Star Trek)
Vader likely perished when the Hood was destroyed by the Narada.
