The RMS (Royal Mail Steamship) Titanic was an Earth ship built in the early 20th century. Touted as unsinkable thanks to innovative transverse bulkheads, the Titanic was the largest moving object built by mankind at the time of it's construction. The vessel struck an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean and sank on its maiden voyage in April, 1912, with the loss of over 1,500 humans.
In an alternate 2374, Lieutenant Tom Paris of the starship USS Voyager created transverse bulkheads based on the Titanic to strengthen the ship's hull after successive Krenim attacks. When Captain Janeway reminded Paris of the Titanic's fate, he assured her he had improved the design. (VOY: "Year of Hell")
