VR, Elementary, Dear Data

Queen Victoria's royal cypher

Victoria was the queen of the United Kingdom on Earth throughout much of the 19th century.

In one of the holoprograms based on Sherlock Holmes, Victoria presented an emerald tie-pin to Holmes (played by Data) for solving the case of the stolen Bruce-Partington plans.

The holographic representation of Holmes' home also featured the letters "VR", the royal cipher of Queen Victoria, written in bullet holes on one of the walls. (TNG: "Elementary, Dear Data")

This is a reference to the Sherlock Holmes story "The Adventure of the Musgrave Ritual", in which Watson describes how Holmes "proceeded to adorn the opposite wall with a patriotic VR done in bullet-pocks".
