Alien that was a member of a species that casued a rupture in time. They caused the Enterprise and a Romulan War-BIrd to freeze in time. The alien would attack LaForge, almost killing him. The Alien would explain that a nest of their young has been mistakenly place in the the engine of the war-bird, which caused engine failure.
When the Enterprise, responding to a distress call, it attempted an energy transfer that caused time to be disrupted. The alien would disappear, and Picard along with Troi, Data and LaForge who were not on the ship during the disrution, were able to reverse the effects of the disruption, and restore the proper time.
