Qa'vak was a traditional Klingon game with a half-meter hoop and a spear. The game honed skills for the hunt, however, as Klingons did not hunt for food, the hunt was a ritual which reminded Klingons of where they came from.

In qa'vak, as the hoop rolled between stakes planted in the ground, a Klingon would attempt to throw a spear through the hoop. When successful, the Klingon would shout ka'al!.

In 2369, during his visit on Carraya IV, Worf demonstrated how the game was played correctly to the Klingon children and explained the ritualistic nature of the hunt. (TNG: "Birthright, Part II")
