A psychosimulator test was an examination at Starfleet Academy in the 23rd century. Notoriously difficult, a split-second of indecision was enough to ensure failure.
R.M. Merik failed a psychosimulator test during his fifth year at the Academy, resulting in his being dropped. Merik would later go on to join the Merchant Marines. (TOS: "Bread and Circuses")
