Protestors

A protest, also known as a demonstration, is an act by a person or group to show opposition or support to a cause.

In 1967, over 3,000 students participated in a demonstration on the campus of the University of California in Santa Cruz, Earth. They were dispersed by using tear gas. (VOY: "Future's End")

In 2000, Henry Janeway mounted a lonely demonstration campaign against the building of the Millennium Gate. (VOY: "11:59")

In 2024, an attempt to organize a rally in protest of the treatment of the inhabitants of Sanctuary District A in San Francisco instead turned into the Bell Riots. The same year, France was affected by student protests. (DS9: "Past Tense, Part I", "Past Tense, Part II")

The colonists on Terra Nova protested against a second wave of colonists, planned to be send by the Space Agency. (ENT: "Terra Nova")

Protests were held when on Earth the transporter was approved for biomatter. Many of the protesters feared getting transporter psychosis due to transporter use. (ENT: "Daedalus")

Protests were held on the Torothan homeworld after the caste system was abandoned but those disadvantaged by it found little had changed. Ultimately protests and court action were abandoned in favor of terrorism. (ENT: "Desert Crossing")

In 2369, Bajoran Vedek Winn organized a protest outside the Deep Space 9 school because she objected to "blasphemous" teachings. (DS9: "In the Hands of the Prophets")

In 2371, Vedek Yarka was stripped of his title due to him leading protests against the Vedek Assembly endorsing the Bajoran-Cardassian Treaty. (DS9: "Destiny")

In 2374 Bajoran Vedek Yassim announced that she would put on a demonstration against the Dominion and the evil it represented. An attempt by Major Kira Nerys to dissuade her from doing so failed, and the event went forward. The event shocked Kira and other witnesses, as Yassim committed suicide by hanging on the Promenade, while saying "Evil must be opposed." (DS9: "Rocks and Shoals")

In 2375, Quark noted to Odo that it was not a good time for a "Changeling Pride" demonstration (DS9: "Chimera")

Amongst the images seen in the time stream when the Time line reset itself after the Temporal Cold War was a 20th century Earth civil rights protest. (ENT: "Storm Front, Part II")

In 2371 of an alternate reality, Makull and his supporters of an unknown species performed a demonstration against polaric ion energy in front of a polaric ion power plant. This demonstration led to Kathryn Janeway getting injured after accidentally getting involved. Protests against polaric energy also occurred in Kalto Province. (VOY: "Time and Again").

A cut line in the script of TNG: "First Contact" mentions protests about the social reforms by Avel Durken on Malcor III.
