Joseph Murray "Joe" Cornish (born 20 December 1968; age 55) is an English writer, director, comedian, radio and television presenter and actor who is currently Paramount's top choice to direct Star Trek Beyond, the sequel to Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness. Reports differ as to whether or not he has begun negotiations to join the project. [1][2][3]

Cornish was born in London, where he was educated at Westminster School. It was there that he met and became friends with Alex Buxton, with whom he formed the comedy duo Adam and Joe. The duo created a number of amateur comedy films together, some of which made it to air on British television. This exposure led to the duo being given their own television show, The Adam and Joe Show, which they hosted from 1996 through 2001. They later presented an award-winning BBC radio program, titled simply Adam and Joe, from 2007 through 2011.

As a filmmaker, Cornish is best known for writing and directing the acclaimed 2011 sci-fi/action comedy Attack the Block. He also co-wrote the screenplays for The Adventures of Tintin and the upcoming Marvel feature Ant Man. Cornis worked with filmmaker Edgar Wright on all three of these films; Wright was an executive producer on Attack the Block, co-wrote Tin Tin and Ant Man and will direct the latter. In addition, Tintin features in its cast Wright's long-time friend and frequent collaborator Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty in the current Star Trek films. Cornish also acted alongside Pegg in the films Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, both of which were written by Pegg and Wright and directed by Wright.
