Potassium chloride (KCl) was a metal halide salt composed of potassium and chlorine.
While testing the interaction limits of the interface probe in 2370, Geordi La Forge encountered potassium chloride, ammonia and chlorine in the Jefferies tube the probe was traveling. (TNG: "Interface")
