Shuttlecraft Picasso (2267)

The Picasso (SB11-1201/1) was a Class F shuttlecraft assigned to Starbase 11 in the 2260s.

In 2267, after Commander Spock commandeered the USS Enterprise, Captain James T. Kirk, along with a Talosian illusion of Commodore José I. Mendez, used the shuttlecraft to pursue him. After the shuttle ran out of fuel, Spock towed the ship into the shuttlebay. (TOS: "The Menagerie, Part I")

Background

The name Picasso and the new registry number were derived from the 2006 remastered version of this episode. In the episode as originally aired, the shuttle was termed "Shuttlecraft 1", and was a re-use of the Enterprise shuttlecraft Galileo (see original appearance), that appeared several times in recycled footage to represent other shuttles throughout TOS.

The Picasso was named after Pablo Picasso, a 20th century artist from Earth.
