(written from a Production point of view)
Referred to twice in the final draft script of the Star Trek: The Original Series episode "Charlie X", the term "Phynburg Oscillating Framizam" was a scripted placeholder used to describe two different gadgets in the teleplay's stage directions. The term was used to refer to both a long rod, utilized in a vertical Jefferies tube, and (in the next scene) a red, black and silver, pointed engineering tool. The term was erroneously associated with a trident scanner in the reference book Star Trek Concordance. The name was an in-joke reference to Star Trek: The Original Series Prop Master Irving A. Feinberg.
