A photonic burst was a type of antiphotonic weapon modification.
Like the photonic disruptor beam used by the Lokirrim, (VOY: "Body and Soul") a photonic burst emission was also used to disrupt holographics.
In 2374, Seven of Nine modified a holographic explosive device to emit a photonic burst harmless to organic tissue, but disruptive to all holographic activity within twenty metres of the explosion. (VOY: "The Killing Game, Part II")
