Template:Realworld Phillip W. Palmer (born 10 June 1963; age 60) is a sound mixer who worked as second unit production sound mixer on J.J. Abrams' Star Trek. [1]

Born in Dallas, Texas, Palmer graduated in 1985 from the Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Television. He started as boom operator for sound mixers such as Peter J. Devlin, Robert Allan Wald, and Tom Nelson, until he has started his own sound mixing career in 1999. Palmer resides in Woodland Hills, California.

Among his early credits are films such as the thriller Unholy Matrimony (1988), the comedy Wayne's World (1992), the thriller Sliver (1993), the comedy sequel Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993, starring Whoopi Goldberg), and the drama Any Given Sunday (1999), as well as television work for several series, including Father Dowling Mysteries (1989-1991), Tales from the Crypt (1989-1996), 2000 Malibu Road (1992), and Walker, Texas Ranger (1993-2001, starring Noble Willingham).

As sound mixer, Palmer has worked on the feature films Taxi (2004), Species III (2004), Fat Albert (2004), Hostage (2005), Bewitched (2005), and National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007, starring Bruce Greenwood, Alicia Coppola, and Albert Hall). Among his resume are also the television series She Spies (2002-2004), Entourage (2005), Cold Case, Brannon Braga's, Mike Sussman's and David Livingston's Threshold (2005, starring Brent Spiner), Medium (2005-2006), and Jericho (2006-2008), for which he has been nominated for a Cinema Audio Society Award for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing for Television Series this year.
