This article lists non-canon information. Additions to the brief character definitions listed here should include only a list of appearances and a short definition of their status as of their last appearance in this series. Other non-canon appearances will not be listed here. If you want to read about their canon information, their names will be hyperlinked to their main article. The specifics of non-canon characters' appearances should be listed in the character section of each audio production, novel, comic book, or game in which they played a role.

Regular characters

James T. Kirk

James T. Kirk was USS Enterprise's commanding officer, a Starfleet captain in the 2260s. Rear Admiral Kirk retained the rank of captain when he resumed command in the 2270s.

Kirk appeared in all stories from "Passage to Moauv" to "The Human Factor". He also appeared on every record cover. On the cover of quadruple-story record #8168 Kirk seems to be wearing a red uniform he was not known to wear in canon in that time period. In all of the photographic cover appearances, Kirk is shown wearing either his 2270s captain's uniform or the admiral's variation, despite only one story he appeared in ("Dinosaur Planet") being verifiably set during that time period. Spock

Spock was the half-Vulcan Enterprise XO and science officer, a Starfleet commander in the 2260s and 2270s.

Spock appeared in all the stories from "Passage to Moauv" to "The Human Factor". He appeared on all covers except for the single versions of "In Vino Veritas" (#1513) and "The Robot Masters" (#PR46). The cover illustration of the single version "To Starve a Fleaver" (#2307) shows Spock laughing, which he did not overtly do in the story. In all of the photographic cover appearances, Spock is shown wearing his 2270s uniform, despite only one story he appeared in ("Dinosaur Planet") being verifiably set during that time period. Leonard McCoy

Leonard McCoy was the Enterprise CMO, a Starfleet doctor with the rank of lieutenant commander (promoted to commander in the 2270s). McCoy appeared on more covers than any other character besides Kirk and Spock. In all of the photographic cover appearances, McCoy is shown wearing his 2270s commander's uniform, despite only one story he appeared in ("Dinosaur Planet") being verifiably set during that time period. Scotty

Montgomery "Scotty" Scott was a Starfleet lieutenant commander (later promoted to commander in the 2270s) serving as Enterprise chief engineer. Scotty's only cover appearances were on the quadruple release #8168 and in the photo image on the front of the second single release of "The Time Stealer" (#1514), in the latter wearing his 2270s commander's uniform (even though that story was originally released as taking place in a different era). Uhura

Uhura was a Starfleet lieutenant (promoted to lieutenant commander in the 2270s) serving as Enterprise communications officer. ("Passage to Moauv", "In Vino Veritas", "The Crier in Emptiness", "The Time Stealer", "To Starve a Fleaver", "A Mirror for Futility", "The Man Who Trained Meteors", "The Robot Masters", "The Human Factor")

In comic appearances "Passage to Moauv", "The Time Stealer", "A Mirror for Futility" and "The Crier in Emptiness", as well as the cover illustration of "To Starve a Fleaver", Uhura is incorrectly portrayed with light skin and blond hair, seemingly because of a mistake by the color artists. She was only visually drawn correctly in "The Robot Masters" and on the cover of the first single release of "The Crier in Emptiness" (#PR26). In all of the photographic cover appearances, Uhura is shown wearing her 2270s uniform, despite not appearing in the one story ("Dinosaur Planet") that was verifiably set during that time period. The photo covers featuring Uhura include the second release of the first LP record (#8158), the second single releases of "In Vino Veritas" (#1513) and "The Time Stealer" (#1514). Hikaru Sulu

Hikaru Sulu was the Enterprise helmsman, a Starfleet lieutenant (promoted to lieutenant commander in the 2270s). ("Passage to Moauv", "In Vino Veritas", "The Crier in Emptiness", "The Time Stealer", "To Starve a Fleaver", "A Mirror for Futility", "Dinosaur Planet", "The Human Factor")

In comic appearances "Passage to Moauv", "The Crier in Emptiness", "The Time Stealer", "A Mirror for Futility" and the cover of the double-story set #BR51, Sulu is incorrectly portrayed with dark skin, curly hair and blue sciences division uniform, possibly because of a mistaken association (by the colorist or ink artists) of his name with the African warrior name "Zulu". He is also erroneously called "ensign" in "Dinosaur Planet", which was set in a time period where Sulu was a lieutenant commander. Besides the cameo cover mentioned above, Sulu appeared on several photo covers wearing his 2270s lieutenant commander's uniform, even though none of them verifiably took place in that time period. These covers include the second release of triple-story record #8158 and the second single releases of "The Time Stealer" (#1514) and "In Vino Veritas" (#1513). Pavel Chekov

Pavel Chekov was the Enterprise navigator and science officer, a Starfleet ensign (promoted to lieutenant and made tactical officer and security chief in the 2270s). ("The Time Stealer", "The Robot Masters", "Dinosaur Planet")

Chekov was absent from "The Crier in Emptiness", even though Mr. Connors took his place (as a crewmember with an accent). In "The Time Stealer", Chekov appeared wearing a blue sciences division uniform. Chekov is the only main cast member to never appear on any of the record covers, as well as having the least appearances. Recurring characters

Christine Chapel

Starfleet nurse assigned to the Enterprise in the 2260s, who went on to become a ship's doctor in the 2270s. ("Passage to Moauv", "The Crier in Emptiness")

Chapel appeared but had no dialog in the "Passage to Moauv" comic, where she had dark hair (in contrast to the varying blond or red wigs she had worn in TOS-era canon productions). She was mentioned, but not seen in "The Crier in Emptiness". Chapel appeared on the photo cover of the second release of the single version of "The Time Stealer" (#1514), wearing her 2270s doctor's uniform, despite the fact that that story was probably not set during that time period and she was not present or mentioned. Connors

Starfleet sciences lieutenant. ("The Crier in Emptiness")

This may or may not be the "Connors" briefly seen in TOS: "Mudd's Women", who was identical in appearance to Mr. Leslie. The character seemed to be a last minute replacement for Chekov, who might not be as musically inclined as Connors was intended to be in the story.

Will Decker: Decker appeared on the photo covers of double release #BR522 and the six-story LP released in 1979, despite never appearing or being mentioned in any of the stories.
Ilia: Ilia appeared on the photo cover of the six-story LP released in 1979, despite never appearing or being mentioned in any of the stories.

Janice Rand: Rand appeared, in her 2270s CPO's uniform, on the photo cover of the second release of the single version of "The Time Stealer" (#1514), despite the fact that that story was probably not set during that time period and she never appeared or was mentioned in any of the stories.
