They had previously worked with Star Trek director/producer J.J. Abrams on Paramount Pictures' Mission: Impossible III. They also did work on 2005's The Island, which was written by Star Trek scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (and featured Star Trek: Voyager actor Ethan Phillips).

Besides Star Trek, other upcoming film projects in which POV was involved include Get Smart (featuring The Rock), the animated Kung Fu Panda, and the remake of Robert Wise's science fiction classic The Day the Earth Stood Still.
