The Paxans were a xenophobic isolanist civilization inhabiting an M-class planet in the Ngame Nebula. They terraformed the planet in order to conceal it from intruders. If an intruder were to come within their space, an energy field would render the ship's crew unconscious and the ship would be transported out of their space through a wormhole to just over half a parsec away from their space. The intruder would then regain consciousness, count their blessings and carry on as normal.

In 2367, the Enterprise-D encountered the Paxans on two ocassions. (TNG: "Clues")
