Pardek

Senator Pardek in 2368.

Senator Pardek (played by Malachi Throne) was a member of the Romulan Senate with a lengthy career in Romulan politics. He had been in public service since he was a young man and as of 2368, a senator for nine decades. Early in his life, Pardek was present at the Khitomer Conference peace talks (2293) between the Federation and the Klingon Empire.

Pardek was considered a man of the people and had sponsored many reforms. Reportedly, Romulan leaders considered him as somewhat of a radical since he had been an advocate of peace throughout his career. Pardek represented the Krocton Segment, and maintained a dwelling there; he visited on the third day of the Romulan week when the Senate was not in session.

In 2368, Pardek (along with co-conspirator proconsul Neral) attempted a takeover of Vulcan. After spending decades building a reputation as an advocate for peace, and supporting Vulcan-Romulan reunification, Pardek lured Federation Ambassador Spock to Romulus for false reunification talks; secretly, he had launched a Romulan invasion fleet to Vulcan. The plan was foiled at the last minute by Enterprise Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Commander Data. (TNG: "Unification I", "Unification II")

In the non-canon novel "Taking Wing", in 2380, Director Rehaek, head of the Tal Shiar has his adjutant Torath murder Pardek in the Hall of States' Library.
