Orion interceptors were a fast, moderately armed starship used by the Orion Syndicate during the 22nd century.
Technical data
The exterior design of this classes hull is hawk-like in appearance, incorporating swept wings, positioned at the aft of the vessel, with a beak-like forward section. This class of vessel also featured quad-engine exhaust ports, three on the lower half of the ship and one on the upper half.
The Interceptors armaments include at least one particle cannon mounted underside the hull. When in use, the ship's transporter system creates a large energy surge. (ENT: "Borderland")
Encounters
Knowledge of this starship class was contained in the Vulcan database, but the class remained unknown to Earth Starfleet until May of 2154, when two Orion interceptors attacked and raided the starship Enterprise. The two interceptors quickly caught and ambushed Enterprise in the Borderland as it searched for an Augment-controlled Bird-of-Prey.
