Summary

The voyages of the new crew of the Enterprise continue in this re-imagining of the classic episode OPERATION: ANNIHILATE! Captain Kirk comes face to face with the ghosts of his past when a rescue mission reunites him with the last person he expects to see: his brother! STAR TREK feature writer/producer Roberto Orci oversees this continuation of the story from the blockbuster 2009 movie!

Background Information

The story for this issue (and the next issue) is an adaptation of the Original Series episode "Operation -- Annihilate!"
The opening flashback is set after young James T. Kirk crashed the Corvette, and acknowledges the deleted scene set beforehand. The owner of the Corvette, referred to in Star Trek's credits as Kirk's stepfather, has reverted to being Winona Kirk's brother Frank. Kirk's brother George is stated as living with his grandfather.
Winona has black hair.
A special contest was run by the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF) called "Be A Redshirt". This contest had the prizewinner and their local retailer appearing on a special cover done by The Sharp Brothers as red shirts. It was limited to 300 copies, 100 for the winner, 100 for the retailer, and 100 for the CBLDF.
Kirk uses his insignia as a Combadge, something not shown before or after, even though he is carrying a Communicator on his belt.
