The Federation Undersecretary for Agriculture in 2267, Mr. Baris was stationed at Deep Space Station K-7 to oversee a shipment of Quadrotriticale grain to Sherman's Planet. Baris summoned Captain James T. Kirk and the crew of the USS Enterprise to the K-7 station to protect the grain through the use of a Priority One distress call.
During Baris' stay on K-7 it was found that his assisstant Arne Darvin was a Klingon spy and responsible for poisoning the grain shipment. TOS: "The Trouble with Tribbles", DS9: "Trials and Tribble-ations")
