A neural interface used aboard the automated repair station.

A neural interface is a technology that allows access to an individual's mind.

In 2154, the neural interface helmet was a major component of the telepresence unit, which was used by the Romulans to control their drone-ship from their homeworld, Romulus. (ENT: "The Aenar")

Borg drones are able to initiate a direct neural interface with each other through their assimilation tubules. Seven of Nine used this method to communicate with One, a 29th century drone, in 2375. (VOY: "Drone")

In 2376, Seven of Nine linked her neural interface with that of Lansor, P'Chan, and Marika Wilkarah, all former drones of her unimatrix, in order to access missing memories of their time on Planet 1865-Alpha eight years previous. (VOY: "Survival Instinct")

Later that year, the former Borg Azan and Rebi used their neural interfaces to cheat during a game of kadis-kot with Icheb, Mezoti, and Naomi Wildman. (VOY: "Ashes to Ashes")

When the Hirogen took over the USS Voyager in 2374, they installed neural interfaces, essentially subdermal transmitters, into the crew. Located at the back of the skull, the interface linked the subject's neocortex with the holodeck, suppressing their personalities and making them believe that they were part of the Hirogen's violent holoprograms. The Doctor eventually developed a way to neutralize the interfaces using the bridge access relays, allowing the Voyager crew to fight back. (VOY: "The Killing Game")

The synaptic stimulator, invented by the Ponea and given to the crew of the USS Equinox, is a type of neural interface. (VOY: "Equinox").

Doctor Julian Bashir built a neural interface in 2375 to access the mind of Luther Sloan, a member of Section 31, who had attempted suicide by activating a neuro-depolarizing device. (DS9: "Extreme Measures")

In an alternate 2392, the Doctor invented a synatic interface that allowed an individual to mentally control a starship equipped with a synaptic transceiver. It involved a microcircuit with a Starfleet signature, implanted into the brain. The SC-4 was fitted with this system.

Traveling back in time to 2378, Admiral Janeway used this interface to communicate mentally with the Borg Queen. She told the Queen that she would not be able to trace the signal, but her drones succeeded within minutes. However, this was part of a plan by Janeway to introduce a neurolytic pathogen into Collective when she was assimilated (VOY: "Endgame").
