Intelligence scan of the Nelvana system
The Nelvana system was a star system. This system had five planets that orbited the primary Sigma Nelvana. During the mid-24th century, the uninhabited system was a strategically significant point in the Romulan Neutral Zone. From this system, the Romulan Star Empire was within striking distance of fifteen Federation sectors.
In 2366, the Romulans deceived the Federation into believing they had established a secret base on Nelvana III, and successfully lured the USS Enterprise-D there to respond. (TNG: "The Defector")
Nelvana system was located in the Beta Quadrant. (Star Trek: Star Charts, page 66)
It was named for the Canadian animation studio, Nelvana Limited. (Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion)
