Ned Quint was a Human male native to Caldos colony. A groundskeeper who spoke Scots language, he helped tend to Felisa Howard's affairs after her granddaughter, Beverly Crusher, left for Starfleet Academy. Felisa never mentioned Quint to Beverly, yet he spent much time at her house.

Quint was aware that Ronin and the Howard family candle were dangerous, and warned both Felisa and Beverly of this fact. Beverly wanted Quint to tend to her grandmother's house after her death in 2370, but he said the house was haunted and vowed never to return. Quint was killed when he tried stopping Ronin from using the weather modification network on Caldos II as a means of moving about. It appeared he had been killed by a plasma surge from a console he was trying to dismantle, but residual traces of anaphasic energy made it clear Ronin was involved. (TNG: "Sub Rosa")

Quint was played by actor Shay Duffin.
He was named after valet Peter Quint in The Innocents, another story about ghostly lovers (based on Henry James' The Turn of the Screw). (Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion)
According to a deleted scene in the episode, Quint was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland. [1]
