The NX-Alpha was a Human two-manned test vehicle in operation during the 22nd century as a prototype for the warp five engine, as part of the NX test program.

A.G. Robinson flew the NX-Alpha in an attempt to break the warp two barrier in the 2130s. NX-Alpha broke up shortly after it had reached warp 2.2. Robinson managed to escape in time using the ship's escape pod. (ENT: "First Flight")
