A setting of the sensor grid, the multiphasic scan is conducted by modifying the sensors to operate on a multiphasic bandwidth. The result is a scan capable of penetrating intense electromagnetic radiation.
The USS Voyager utilized this meathod to scan a dark matter nebula. (VOY: "Cathexis")
