A motorcycle was a two-wheeled land vehicle that was powered by an internal combustion engine. It was used tor civilian as well as military purposes on Earth in the 20th century.

In an alternate 1944, a German military BMW R75 motorcycle escorted a prisoner convoy that transported Captain Jonathan Archer in an Ford Model 51 truck, and which further consisted of an escorting Volkswagen Kübelwagen. All vehicles were damaged when American Resistance fighters ambushed the small convoy, and killed their German occupants. (ENT: "Storm Front")

In 1986, an SFPD motorcycle patrolman encountered Pavel Chekov and Uhura, who had traveled through time from the 23rd century. He was impassive as both Uhura and the Russian-accented Chekov asked him to direct them to a nuclear vessel dock facility. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)

In 1996, a pair of motorcyclists were seen on Los Angeles beach by time travelers Kathryn Janeway and Chakotay. (VOY: "Future's End")

In the 2150s, Zobral's clan on the Torothan homeworld had a type of sand-faring, three-wheeled motorcycle. (ENT: "Desert Crossing")

This vehicle was not scripted to appear and, in the episode, is only seen once, in a CGI establishing shot of Zobral's settlement, for which the visual effects team photographed background plates of real sand. The vehicle, also portrayed using CGI, is unnamed on screen. However, John Gross recalled, "Because some of the real plates had dune buggy treads in them, Ron[ald B. Moore] asked us to create some kind of motorcycle thing just to establish where these tread marks might have come from. We put a little CG three-wheeled vehicle in there with a little CG person." Starfleet officer George Kirk, according to his son, owned a BX-70 motorcycle. He would put Winona on it, despite it driving her mad. (Star Trek Beyond)

In the 2240s of the alternate reality, hovercruisers – essentially motorcycles that floated above the ground, rather than riding on wheels – were used by police officers, on Earth, to aid in law enforcement.

In 2255 of the alternate reality, James T. Kirk owned a wheeled motorcycle, just prior to his enlistment in Starfleet. Kirk's motorcycle's wheels, however, did not have spokes. When he arrived at Riverside Shipyard to board a shuttle to Starfleet Academy, a yard worker complimented Kirk on his vehicle. Kirk then casually tossed the startcard to the worker, telling him that the motorcycle was now his. Later in 2263, Kirk found a BX-70 motorcycle aboard the USS Franklin on Altamid. Kirk and Jaylah then used it to distract Krall and his drones to free his crew. (Star Trek; Star Trek Beyond)

Kirk's motorcycle is said to have an electric engine in the script.

In 2374, the Hirogen gained control over the USS Voyager and utilized its holodeck for the creation of their hunting simulations. One of the scenarios they chose was set in the French World War II-era village of Sainte Claire, occupied by Germans. In order to be as historical correct as possible, they also recreated holographic duplicate period vehicles as backdrop for their simulation, including a Zündapp KS750 motorcycle.
