Mitena Haro was the assumed name of an alien in the guise of a Bolian female. The unnamed alien species kidnapped Captain Jean-Luc Picard, a Mizarian named Kova Tholl, and a Chalnoth named Esoqq, as part of a maze experiment. The aliens, which were a telepathically linked race, wanted to study the nature of authority, as the concept had formerly been unknown to them (members of their race were all absolutely identical).
While in disguise as Haro, the alien claimed to be a first year cadet at Starfleet Academy. She also stated her best area of study to be impulse propulsion systems, with a particular interest in field coils. (TNG: "Allegiance")
Haro was played by actress Joycelyn O'Brien.
It was unclear if the aliens had copied a real Mitena Haro, or if it was an entirely fictional identity.
The 1999 edition of the Star Trek Encyclopedia suggested that there was a real Cadet Haro. Also, a cut line from the script noted that Haro was one of three Bolians in the whole Academy. [1]
