Michael "Mike" R. Olague is a visual effects technician who worked for Industrial Light & Magic and since 2007 for Kerner Optical on three Star Trek films and the Star Trek: The Next Generation pilot episode "Encounter at Farpoint".
Olague started to work as stage technician for ILM in the 1980s and contributed to films such as the fantasy comedy Howard the Duck (1986), the short science fiction film Captain EO (1986), the science fiction comedy Innerspace (1987), the fantasy adventure Willow (1988), the animated film Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988, with Christopher Lloyd), the comedy sequel Caddyshack II (1988), the comedy Skin Deep (1989, with Denise Crosby), the fantasy sequel Ghostbusters II (1989), the adventure The Abyss (1989), the science fiction sequel Back to the Future Part II (1989, with Christopher Lloyd), the action sequel Die Hard 2 (1990), the science fiction horror film Arachnophobia (1990), the adventure The Rocketeer (1991, starring Bill Campbell), Steven Spielberg's Hook (1991), the fantasy comedy Death Becomes Her (1992), and the crime drama Rising Sun (1993).
His credits as visual effects gaffer include the comedies The Flintstones and The Mask (both 1994), the action film Mission: Impossible (1996), the science fiction comedies Mars Attacks! (1996) and Men in Black (1997), the drama Deep Impact (1998, with James Cromwell and Denise Crosby), the action adventure The Mummy (1999) and its sequel The Mummy Returns (2001), the science fiction trilogy Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999), Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002), and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005), the science fiction western Wild Wild West (1999), the science fiction comedy Galaxy Quest (1999), the drama Pearl Harbor (2001), the fantasy sequel Jurassic Park III (2001), the horror film Dreamcatcher (2003), the blockbuster trilogy Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006), and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007), the science fiction sequel Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003, starring Kristanna Loken), the science fiction film The Day After Tomorrow (2004), the fantasy film Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), and the action sequel Mission: Impossible III (2006).
More recently, Olague worked as lighting technician on the drama Milk (2008) and the Parenthood pilot episode (2010).
