(written from a Production point of view)

Michael McGreevey (born 7 February 1948; age 76) is a writer who wrote the teleplay for the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine first season episode "Babel". It was McGreevey's only contribution to the Star Trek franchise.

Before getting the opportunity to write "Babel", McGreevey had pitched a story to the writers that featured Jadzia Dax and Julian Bashir falling in love. McGreevey commented "It was a love story, a simple concept. I don't know why they didn't want to do it. The symbiont inside Dax becomes ill, making her ill, and Dr. Bashir must separate them in order to treat the symbiont. We would come to see the personality of Jadzia, which of course is different from Dax. Bashir falls in love with her, and she feels for him, too. But the most important thing in life is to be joined with the symbiont. Bashir realizes that the only way to save the symbiont is to put it back into Jadzia, and thereby lose the girl he loves". (The Official Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Magazine issue 8)

McGreevey was a producer and writer on the television series Fame, as was his friend Ira Steven Behr. McGreevey commented: "I went in and I had a very cordial meeting with them. In the room was someone they had just hired that morning, this weird little guy all dressed in black. And I thought, 'Boy, I'd never be friends with him'. He did do one thing that endeared me to him—he recognized me as an actor and actually knew my credits". (Inside Fame on Television: A Behind-the-Scenes History)

McGreevey has also written episodes of Wonder Woman and The Incredible Hulk, but has mainly worked as an actor, with guest starring appearances in Riverboat, Disneyland, Charlie's Angels and Parks and Recreation. As a child actor, McGreevey appeared in the films The Man in the Net, Day of the Outlaw, The Way West and The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes.
