Michael John Anderson (born 31 October 1953; age 70) is the actor who portrayed Rumpelstiltskin in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "If Wishes Were Horses".

He has made his career playing short-statured characters with other guest appearances in The X-Files and Twin Peaks. In that series he played "Man from another place" in the famous backwards-talking dream sequences. He also appeared in the series' prequel movie Fire Walk With Me. Anderson is perhaps best known as Samson in Carnivàle (2003-2005).

In 1997 he starred in Warriors of Virtue with Tom Towles and Lee Arenberg. A year later, he appeared with John Savage in Club Vampire.

In 2001, Anderson worked with David Lynch again, appearing in the motion picture Mulholland Dr., in which Geno Silva also starred.

Prior to becomming an actor, Anderson worked on the Space shuttle for NASA.
