Merak II was the second planet of the Merak system. This planet was a Federation member , and had an oxygen atmosphere.

In 2269 the planet experienced a bacterial botanical plague. The plague was treated with a toxic ore, known as zenite, which was acquired by the USS Enterprise. (TOS: "The Cloud Minders")

In 2370, Quark claimed that Elim Garak had ordered a sizing scanner from Merak II from the Ferengi. (DS9: "The Wire")

According to the Star Trek: Star Charts (pg. 47), the Merak system was located in or near Federation space, in the Alpha Quadrant. This system, also known as Beta Ursae Majoris, was a binary star system. Primary was a Class A star with a magnitude of +3, which was ten times the brightness of Sol. Secondary was a Class F star. Merak II was listed as a member planet of the Federation in 2378.
