    • It's not just a generic term -- "First Contact" is the specific name that Riker used in dialogue. He said, "April 4th... the day before First Contact." (Emphasis added.) He didn't say "Earth's First Contact" or "the first Terran-Vulcan contact" or anything like that.     • Well, Riker has a provincial viewpoint. I'm American, and when I speak of the American Civil War or the American Revolution, I usually leave out the American part --Captain Mike K. Bartel
