<<Whas Haveing Dr. Bashier be a changling a plan that you thought of before
filming "Rapture" or was it someting that came up later?>>
This came up later as we were working on the two-parter.
<<was it always so that Julian's background was as written in [Dr. Bashir I
Presume], or did this idea come up only recently?>>
This was developed specifically for the episode, but we all felt that it
(I'll refrain from talking in detail for those of you who haven't seen it
yet) was consistant with Julian's character and that it actually helped
explain certain character traits we'd seen over the years.
<<Most people don't even know the Landscape Architecture profession even
exists. How on earth did you ever think of making [Julian's] dad a Landscape
Architect? and not just an architect.>>
One of my roomates at Cornell was studying to be a Landscape Architect -- you
write what you know.
<<I was a wondering, in between the time of writing shows and movies,
producing the same, answering our many questions, and trying to have more of
a life than those of us who write the questions, do you ever read the various
boards to see the reactions to the shows and stories? If so, do you ever get
frustrated with the fans?>>
I do surf around a bit to see what fan reaction is to the various episodes.
Yes, I do get frustrated on occasion, but that's just part of the game. The
audience doesn't always like what you like or hate what you hate and you
learn to just swing with it. There are also times when the comments are
insightful and make me think about the show in new ways, so overall the
ability to lurk around and see what people are saying is a positive thing.
