Mel Johnson, Jr. (born 1 January 1953; age 71) is an actor who played Legate Broca in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine seventh season episodes "The Dogs of War" and "What You Leave Behind". Johnson had been considered for the role of Benjamin Sisko.

Johnson acted in the 1987 film Off the Mark (with film and series guest actor Michael Berryman). Then came the telefilm Police Story: The Watch Commander (1988, alongside David Graf, Gregg Henry, Carlos LaCamara and Robert Schenkkan. In 1990, Johnson first worked in the drama Murder by Numbers (with Stanley Kamel), then Total Recall (1990, with Marc Alaimo, Robert Picardo, Ronny Cox, Roy Brocksmith, Lycia Naff, Robert Costanzo, and Frank Kopyc. Johnson received another telefilm role in 1993's The Poetry Hall of Fame (working with Victor Bevine, LeVar Burton, Richard Kiley, William Shatner and Norman Snow). In 1998, Johnson starred in Archibald the Rainbow Painter (directed by Les Landau and costarring Spice Williams, Ann Gillespie, Michael McKean, Robert Picardo, and Andrew Robinson).

In 2000 he appeared as the first doctor in Jonathan Frakes' Star Trek spoof Star Patrol!. On this project he worked with Jason Alexander, Michael Bailous, Tom Miller, Robin Morselli, Brian Demonbreun, Charles Rocket, and Kathi Cook.

Johnson, Jr. played Mufasa in The Lion King on Broadway. He guest starred in Jessica Jones.
