Maxwell Burke

Lieutenant Maxwell Burke was a Human Starfleet officer, assigned as security chief aboard the USS Equinox under Captain Rudy Ransom, when it was pulled into the Delta Quadrant by the Caretaker. After the executive officer was killed, Burke was promoted to the position. Burke survived the first five years of the vessel's voyage through the quadrant.

In 2376 when the ship encountered the USS Voyager, Captain Janeway discovered that the Equinox was being powered by using the energy from nucleogenic creatures. After a series of conflicts between Voyager and Equinox, Captain Ransom was willing to surrender and have his crew beamed aboard Voyager. Burke mutinied and arrested Ransom, and took control of the Equinox.

Upon assuming control he took a more aggressive approach against Voyager, ordering the Equinox EMH on board Voyager to transmit Voyager's shield frequency. He was able to severely damage Voyager, but his attack was thwarted when Captain Ransom was able to regain control of some of the ship's functions.

Stuck in a ship about to explode, Burke was not willing to surrender. He attempted to make his way to a shuttle but was killed by one of the nucleogenic creatures in the process. (VOY: "Equinox, Part I", "Equinox, Part II")

Maxwell Burke was portrayed by actor Titus Welliver.
