The Maxia Zeta system was a remote uninhabited star system in Federation space and lying near to the borders of the Ferengi Alliance. The planets Maxia Zeta III and Maxia Zeta IV are in the habitable zone of the system.
The USS Stargazer became the first Federation starship to chart this system in 2355. As they charted the fourth planet, a Ferengi starship launched a surprise attack against the Stargazer beginning the Battle of Maxia. (TNG: "The Battle")
