Mattel Inc. is one of the world's largest toy manufacturers and is best known for the production of the Barbie doll, among many other popular toys. Mattel also specializes in the creation of games.
Mattel is also the parent company of Fisher-Price (current producers of View-Master viewers), Tyco (a radio-controlled vehicle specialist), and Radica (a hand-held electronic gaming company best known for its 20Q games).
In the late 1990s, Mattel received a short-lived license to produce Star Trek-related toys and games. Only three known products were produced with this license:
During the development of the 2009 Star Trek film, Mattel reacquired a license to produce Star Trek merchandise. Numerous scaled vehicles have been released under the Hot Wheels and Tyco brands, and a number of Star Trek Barbie & Ken dolls were also produced. Released games include Star Trek Scene It? and Star Trek Edition 20Q.
