A matriarchy is a society in which females hold a dominant role over males.
There have been numerous examples of matriarchal societies thoughout history, including those of Earth, Cygnet XIV, Angel I, the Skrreea, and the Paraagans, though the latter has become more egalitarian since the 2140s.
