A mask was an object worn over the face and used for entertainment, cultural, or religious reasons.

Commander Benjamin Sisko owned a 2,000 year old Yoruba mask. (DS9: "The Search, Part I", "Favor the Bold")

In an alternate timeline, Jake Sisko kept this mask at his house in New Orleans. (DS9: "The Visitor")

The extinct mythologic D'Arsay figures Masaka and Korgano were represented by Data and Jean-Luc Picard with different symbologic masks. Data created his mask by using clay. (TNG: "Masks")
