Alexander earned her BA in Theater with Honors from Smith College and her MS in Zoology and Primate Behavior from Ohio State University. She trained acting under coaches such as Richard Fancy, Marat Yusim, and Carolyn Pickman, and her soprano voice under Kurt Peterson and Merrill Shea. Beside several stage plays and cabaret shows in New York and Los Angeles she worked as looping voice on projects such as the war drama Casualties of War (1989, with Jack Gwaltney, Steve Larson, Vyto Ruginis, and her "Prophecy" co-star Sherman Howard), the drama True Colors (1991), Voyager Faber, Only You, and First Love, Second Chance by Clive Donner.
Her acting credits include principal and co-starring roles in the television series Search For Tomorrow, Loving, The Young and the Restless, The Quest, One Day at a time, Crusaders, Law & Order, and Dangerous Women (1991, with Paul Carr).
