Mark S. Miller is a visual effects artist who, as a member of Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), operated the animatronic whales used in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. He spent 22 years at ILM, where he held the positions of Vice President and Senior Executive in Charge of Production and Marketing.
Miller worked as project manager, coordinator, and producer for ILM on the comic adaptation Howard the Duck (1986), the comedy Caddyshack II (1988), the fantasy comedy Ghostbusters II (1989), the action thriller The Hunt for Red October (1990), the music drama The Doors (1991), the action comedy Hudson Hawk (1991), Steven Spielberg's science fiction blockbuster Jurassic Park (1993), the comedy Baby's Day Out (1994), the fantasy adventure Jumanji (1995), the science fiction thriller Contact (1997), and the drama October Sky (1999).
In 1999 he also served as visual effects producer on Tim Burton's mystery film Sleepy Hollow which earned him a Saturn Award nomination for Best Special Effects in 2000. He also worked as visual effects producer on the science fiction sequel Jurassic Park III in 2001.
The following years Miller worked as visual effects executive producer for ILM on Steven Spielberg's science fiction film Artificial Intelligence: AI (2001), Tim Burton science fiction remake Planet of the Apes (2001), the science fiction thriller Minority Report (2002), the horror thriller Dreamcatcher (2003), the fantasy comedy Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004), and J.J. Abrams' action sequel Mission: Impossible III (2006).
Miller is currently the President of effects house Digital Domain, which provided special effects for Star Trek Nemesis.
