A maneuver was a type or series of tactics or strategies typically executed by starships, shuttlecrafts, and individuals in times of war and peace. These maneuvers could include bluffs, turns, loops, among other things. Some forms of recreation, chess, for instance, employed various maneuvers like the el-Mitra Exchange. (TNG: "Conundrum")

Some maneuvers were named after the people who originated them; examples include the Picard Maneuver and Riker Maneuver. (TNG: "The Battle"; Star Trek: Insurrection)
