Makus III was the third planet in the Makus planetary system. This system was located in the Alpha Quadrant. The system was located 3 days away from Murasaki 312 at warp 1. (TOS: "The Galileo Seven") The location of Makus III was depicted on a Federation star chart in 2293. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country)
In 2267, the USS Enterprise delivered emergency medical supplies to Makus III, to be transferred to the New Paris colonies. (TOS: "The Galileo Seven")
Makus III appeared in the starchart Data and Picard were studying in Stellar Cartography in 2371. (Star Trek Generations)
"The Explored Galaxy" was a Federation star chart of the Alpha Quadrant. The Tholian Assembly and Romulus/Remus were identified in dialog as being located in the Alpha Quadrant. (DS9: "The Search, Part I", "Call to Arms") This chart was also seen in several Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episodes set in the 24th century, from the year 2364 to 2370. These were: TNG: "Conspiracy", "The Measure Of A Man", "The Emissary", "The Mind's Eye", "The Game" and DS9: "In the Hands of the Prophets", "Cardassians".
According to the Star Trek: Star Charts ("United Federation of Planets I"), in 2378, Makus III was a Federation member.
