Lycia Naff (born 29 August 1962; age 61) is an actress who played Sonya Gomez in the Star Trek: The Next Generation second season episodes "Q Who" and "Samaritan Snare". She later reprised the role 32 years later for the Star Trek: Lower Decks second season episode "First First Contact".

Her character was supposed to be a romantic interest for Geordi La Forge and had been well-established for two consecutive episodes, but then was dropped from the series and abruptly never seen or referred to again until her appearance in Lower Decks three decades later. [1]

Naff started her entertainment career in 1982 as a dancer in the series Fame, followed by guest spots on series like The Jeffersons (1983, with David Paymer), Whiz Kids (1984, with Elisha Cook and Kenneth Mars), St. Elsewhere (1985, starring Norman Lloyd, Ed Begley, Jr., and Karen Austin), Hunter (1985, with James Whitmore, Jr.), Max Headroom (1987, starring Matt Frewer and George Coe), The Equalizer (1988, with Keith Szarabajka and Jerry O'Connell), Hard Time on Planet Earth (1989, with Paul Comi and Stephen Liska), Baywatch (1990, with Monte Markham, directed by Paul Schneider), The Flash (1990, with Robert Hooks and Wayne Péré), Father Dowling Mysteries, and Law & Order (1991, starring Paul Sorvino, with Carolyn McCormick).

In 1989, Naff played the recurring role of Phoebe Dawson in twelve episodes of General Hospital. In 1990, she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in the category "Outstanding Performer in a Children's Special" for her role in The Perfect Date.

Naff also appeared in a handful of film roles, including as a prostitute in Lethal Weapon (1987, with Mitchell Ryan, Jimmie F. Skaggs, and Ed O'Ross) and – in her probably most famous role – as a three-breasted mutant on Mars in Total Recall (1990, with Ronny Cox, Roy Brocksmith, Robert Costanzo, Marc Alaimo, Frank Kopyc, Robert Picardo, Elizabeth Dennehy, Allan Graf, and Joel Kramer).

In the early 1990, Naff put her acting career on hiatus and ventured into the field of journalism. Since then, she has been writing for several newspapers and magazines, including a lengthy staff position at the Miami Herald. She worked as undercover investigative reporter for the US tabloid National Enquirer for four years, and also wrote for magazines like Vogue, People and OK!.

She briefly returned to acting in the mid 2000s, when she appeared in guest roles in Without a Trace (2007, starring Enrique Murciano) and Ghost Whisperer (2008, with Kenneth Mitchell).
